Sem2 Devlog 4
This is the last devlog for this great 14-week experience. The first half of the semester went well and was smooth sailing then after our design week at week 8, our assets began to ramp up. We were able to finish the asset recycling list early on and reiterate and tweak small designs like our garbage bag designs changed slightly. This was also when the city level was finishing being blocked out so we needed to make assets to fill these areas. It was also important that the props worked hand-in-hand with the narrative structure (which was amazingly fleshed out thanks Nick!). I have included images, the one with the tent was what we reused to decorate the city and sewer, I did these ones and Shane made desks, dumpsters, chairs, screens, buttons, and so much more. We had two special areas, the turtle sanctuary which was our end game area and the bunker which is a secret room that develops the lore much further about the secret intentions of the BFI. I made two hero props, the fountain and the rock cave for the sanctuary which I think fit nicely, and for the bunker, I made some cool hospital-like props and a skeleton that I'm super proud of.
This project has allowed me lots of practice with version control, 3D props and stylized shapes as well as being able to practice animatics! I could not have asked for a better team and hopefully, once our repository storage is figured out we can implement the last of our assets, lighting, and skybox and be able to post the game on Steam for all to see.
