Sem2 Devlog 1 -preproduction

As we head into the second semester we wrapped up our three-week-long sprint that took place over the winter break. This sprint was not super heavy as many of us were spending time with family but it was mainly a placeholder if we were to get work done over the break. Last week we had our "first sprint" of the new semester and today after class we will begin the next. In the past sprint, I was able to get more concept imaging and rough models for an enemy robot. There have been many changes to our narrative structure due to time so our level "acts" needed to be reworked. This will affect the areas of the map that need to be developed as well as what enemies will be included. I also made a basic menu screen for our game with our new title "Downpour". Archetype Defender was a placeholder name and there was a gravitation towards this new name I suggested. I felt Archetype Defender didn't match our theme or tell really what the game is about and I hope "Downpour" can convey the themes of a rain mechanic a lot easier. Going into this new semester it is going to be very heavy on assets and level layouts especially now that we are missing a team member. We hope they will be back but with the school, we are unsure at this time. I am very excited to begin modeling now that we have a more concise low-poly and simplistic look that will also make textures more widely sharable between assets.
